STATE DIVERSITY CHAMPION
The Department of Administration has identified the hiring of minorities as one of its strategic goals for the Executive Branch of Rhode Island State Government. In March 2016, the DEDI introduced a monthly “Diversity Champion” certificate program to recognize the agency that has met the established criteria with regard to their new hires.
Criteria for selection of “Diversity Champion” for the month:
- Partners with the DEDI/Human Resources Outreach and Diversity Office to develop an expanded outreach plan that includes the use of minority media for advertising vacancies;
- Interviews a diverse pool of candidates; and,
- Has a minimum of 30% workers of color amongst its new hires for the month or (if no agency has hired a minimum of 30% workers of color for that month) has the highest overall percentage of workers of color as new hires for that month.
