The Division of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (DEDI) is partnering with Rhode Island Commerce to launch an innovative pilot program that provides technical assistance and support to State-certified Minority Business Enterprises (MBE), Women Business Enterprises (WBE), Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE), and Veteran Business Enterprises (VBE). This innovative program will help these historically disadvantaged small businesses navigate public and private sector procurement markets. Its primary goal is to eliminate barriers to market access through education initiatives and direct procurement training, thereby increasing opportunities for participation in State and private sector contracts.

Rhode Map to Success is an innovative pilot program created to provide State-certified MBEs, WBEs, VBEs and DBEs with technical assistance and support in navigating public and private sector procurement markets. This initiative supports Governor Dan McKee’s Rhode Island 2030 agenda focusing on job creation, small business growth, and increasing economic opportunities, particularly within underserved communities.

The program will be operated through the DEDI Minority Business Enterprise Compliance Office (MBECO), Commerce RI Apex Accelerator program, SupplyRI and professional business technical providers.

Current State-certified MBEs, WBEs, DBEs, and VBEs in good standing with the State Minority Business Enterprise Compliance Office are eligible to apply.  All approved services to eligible certified companies will be paid for through this program.

No. Everyone who applies must, at minimum, meet the State-certified eligibility requirements, and up to 100 participants will be selected to participate based in part on the following criteria: Letter of interest or interview, a certified business in good standing with the State and industries covered by a State Master Price Agreement.

No. All approved services to eligible certified companies will be paid for through the program. There will be no cost to the pilot participants.

Once your application has been approved, a program coordinator will contact you to schedule an intake meeting to discuss your procurement and technical assistance needs.  The program coordinator will help you develop a personalized work plan to meet your business procurement participation goals.

Through tailored technical assistance and direct procurement training, the program will engage 100 State-certified businesses and equip them with the tools needed to succeed in Rhode Island's contracting landscape. Services include:

  • Six-Month Co-Workspace Membership 
  • Legal & Accounting Technical Assistance
  • State Master Price Agreement (MPA) Information and Support
  • Ocean State Procures Vendor Registration Assistance
